Keyboard first
Every link, button, menu and form works from the keyboard. A “Skip to content” link comes first, and the phone menu closes with Escape.
Accessibility
Throttle should work for everyone who wants to buy or sell a car, however they use the web. Here’s what we aim for, what’s in place, what isn’t yet and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
Our aim
We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We build to that standard and check the site with a keyboard, at phone widths down to 320 pixels, with reduced motion turned on and with JavaScript turned off.
This statement covers throttlemarketplace.com. The Throttle app for iPhone and Android is covered in its own section below.
What’s in place
Every link, button, menu and form works from the keyboard. A “Skip to content” link comes first, and the phone menu closes with Escape.
The element you’re on is always outlined: green on light backgrounds and white on the green band at the top of each page.
Text is designed for at least 4.5:1 contrast against its background, and icons and borders that carry meaning for at least 3:1.
Sections fade up once as you scroll. If your device asks for reduced motion, they don’t, and page scrolling doesn’t animate either.
Every app screenshot has alt text that says what’s on the screen. Decorative graphics, like the wheel watermark, are hidden from screen readers.
Every page reads fine with JavaScript off. The menu and the questions and answers open as plain HTML, and the launch list form still sends.
Each page has one main heading, headings in order below it and landmarks for the header, the main content and the footer.
Pages reflow down to 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways, and buttons and menu links are at least 44 pixels tall.
The terms, the privacy policy and every other document are web pages you can zoom, search and read aloud, not downloads.
Known limits
The app
The Throttle app is built on the same design system as this site, with the same colors, type and contrast floor. It adds the things a phone needs.
Feedback
If something on this site or in the app is hard to use, email support@throttlemarketplace.com with the subject “Accessibility”. Tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do and what you use, such as a screen reader, zoom or voice control.
We aim to reply within two business days. If you need something from this site in another format, ask and we’ll send it. For everything else, see the contact page.
