Two ways

Delete it in the app, or ask us by email.

The app is quickest. If you can’t sign in anymore, or a code doesn’t arrive, email works too.

In the app

On iPhone or Android, signed in to the account you want to delete.

  1. Open Throttle and go to the You tab.
  2. Tap Privacy & data, then Delete account.
  3. Tap Delete my account and confirm. You can pick a reason first. It’s optional.
  4. Confirm it’s you.Phone accounts enter the code we text to the account’s number. On iPhone, accounts that use Sign in with Apple confirm with Apple instead.

Your listings for sale come down right away and you’re signed out. You have 30 days to change your mind: sign back in and tap Keep my account.

Without the app

If you can’t sign in, or you no longer have the app.

  1. Email support@throttlemarketplace.com with the subject “Delete my account”.
  2. Send it from the email address on your account, or include the phone number you sign in with. That’s how we find the right account.
  3. We confirm it’s you, then schedule the deletion within 5 business days and let you know.Your listings come down as soon as it’s scheduled.
Email a deletion request

Our team carries out email requests, so Keep my account won’t undo one. If you change your mind, reply to us before the 30 days are up and we’ll stop it. Your display name, photo and bio are cleared when we schedule it, so you’d add them again, and we’ll put your listings back up.

What happens next

Your listings for sale come down now. Your account goes after 30 days.

  1. Right away

Your profile and listings for sale come down

Your listings for sale are taken down, your profile is hidden and notifications stop. People you’ve messaged see “Deleted account” in place of your name, and nobody can send you a message. For an email request, this happens when we schedule the deletion, and your display name, photo and bio are cleared then too.

  2. For 30 days

    You can change your mind

Sign back in and tap Keep my account, and people can message you again. Your listings stay down until you renew them from Your listings. For an email request, reply to us instead and we’ll put your listings back up.

  3. After 30 days

    It’s deleted for good

We permanently delete your account and the data listed below. Photos and files are removed from storage soon after. This can’t be undone.

Your data

What’s deleted and what’s kept.

When the 30 days are up, we delete your profile, listings and saved items. Messages you sent stay with the person you sent them to, shown as from “Deleted account”.

Deleted after 30 days

  • Your account and sign-in details, including your phone number and email address
  • Your profile: display name, photo, bio and city, plus your business profile and inventory imports if you had them
  • Your listings and their photos, including drafts
  • Vehicles and searches you saved, and your blocks
  • Photos you sent in messages
  • Conversations with people who have already deleted their accounts
  • Support requests you sent from the app (the copies emailed to our support inbox are kept)
  • Any data export you requested
  • Push notification tokens (these go right away)

Kept

  • Messages you sent, shown as from “Deleted account”, with their photos removed. They stay in the other person’s conversation, because it’s theirs too, for as long as their account exists. Nobody can send a message to a deleted account.
  • Reports about your account, your listings or your messages. They keep your account’s id, so we can tell which reports were about the same account.
  • Reports you filed, no longer linked to your account
  • Moderation and audit records, such as warnings, listing removals and suspensions
  • Copyright notices about your listings
  • Email between you and our support team, including a deletion request sent by email and the copy of each support request you sent from the app. Those copies include your display name, account id, email and phone number.
  • Usage records, like a view on someone else’s listing, no longer tied to your account. App activity is deleted within 90 days. A view stays in that listing’s stats while the listing exists.

Apart from messages and usage records, we keep these as long as we need them for safety, fraud prevention and our legal obligations. Backups and service-provider logs expire on their own schedules.

Apple accounts

Signed in with Apple?

When you delete your account in the app on iPhone, you confirm with Apple, and we ask Apple to revoke Throttle’s access to your Apple Account at the same time.

Deleting by email doesn’t do that part. You can remove Throttle yourself in your Apple Account settings (Apple ID on older devices), under Sign in with Apple.

Before you go

You might not need to delete everything.
